13 Year Old Lynnwood Boy Struck by Car, Hospitalized
A 13-year-old Lynnwood boy was injured Friday evening when he was struck by a car while crossing Highway 99 near 148th Street SW.
The boy was transported by aid car to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The Washington State Patrol reported the boy was among a group of pedestrians crossing Highway 99 from the east to west side of the roadway when the accident occurred.
The boy had been waived across the roadway by vehicles that had stopped in nearby lanes.
The driver, a 48-year-old Edmonds man, was not injured in the accident that occurred shortly before 5:30 p.m., according to an accident report.
We wish the best for this young man. It’s sad, but things of this nature are occurring on a frequent basis and have been for some time. It is up to you as the parent to make sure they be compensated for their pain and suffering and yourself for the medical bills. Fatal Car Accident Leaves Lynnwood Man Dead
The wreck that killed three men near Monroe early Saturday now ranks as the worse traffic accident since three people died on Memorial Day 2005 along I-5.
Three deaths in one accident is out of the ordinary and above the average in Snohomish County, said Dick Doane, a statistician with the Washington Traffic Safety Commission.
Washington State Patrol troopers believe something similar happened Saturday night about 2 a.m. on Highway 522.
The driver of a Hyundai appears to have lost control and swerved across the center line into oncoming traffic.
The patrol identified the men who died as Christopher Anderson, 26, of Everett; Brian James Morgan, 23, of Lynnwood; and Steven Torres, 34, of Everett.
Investigators still are trying to determine what caused the crash, including if drugs or alcohol were factors.
Between 1993 and 2008, there were 712 fatal crashes in Snohomish County, killing 777.
Snohomish County averages about 43 traffic deaths each year. Through July, 16 people have died, records show.

Washington Lineman Recovering From Spinal Injury
Washington State football player Cory Mackay is not likely to return to a football field soon after a car accident.
Coach Paul Wulff said Mackay is recovering from his spinal cord injuries and hopes to walk soon, but probably won’t be able to play football in the near future.
Mackay rolled his truck near Washtucna last Thursday while driving home to Redmond after final exams. Mackay, who was wearing his seatbelt, suffered a spinal injury that necessitated three hours of surgery Friday at Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center to fuse fractured vertebrae.
The 6-foot-4, 257-pound freshman redshirted in the fall but competed for a starting spot with a strong spring.
